Sara D. Callaway  Farm Manager
With a love for good food and a well-tended field, Sara has been
womaning
the helm at Roots for four years.  Educated in anthropology and trained in
Earthskills, she is now learning what Mama Earth has to teach about working
with natural cycles, living organisms, and systems that don't run like Swiss
watches.  Most important lessons so far: how to prioritize tasks, how to create
and institute systems of operation, how to look at problems as opportunities to
learn, how to plan ahead, how to let go, and how to have faith that it will all work
out in the end .

Patrick Boulger  Assistant Manager 2010
Straight from the tropics, Patrick comes to us from the Virgin Island
Sustainable Farm Institute (
www.visfi.org) where he was trained in the Ridge
to Reef Beneficial Farmer training program.  He's got a passion for
permaculture and a way with the wheel hoe, not to mention a fresh view on the
farming scene and an excellent eye behind the camera.  We're excited to have
him on board this year and we're scheming to keep him for another
one!

Chris Lutz Instigation & Inspiration

vegetable production.  Among other things, Chris Lutz fed the fire that ignited
this grand project.  He has a passion for farming and frequently appears at the
Roots stand during farmers' market months.  Currently, he owns and operates
another local business, Athens Roofing,   Call him for a quote on your next

Kevin Yates Co-Manager 2007-2008
An essential player in the genesis and years one and two of Roots Farming,
Kevin has a knack for clear and eloquent communication, hard work, and deep
ponderances, as well as an ability to find the joy in the moment.  He has now

highly recommend him.

David Mack Working Member
David has been on board at Roots since the beginning and we count
ourselves lucky to have him.  He appears here weekly and can also be spotted
often working at the Daily Grocery Co-op.  A talented artist, his illustrations

Farm

Located 10 miles outside Athens, GA, the Roots Farm is a diverse, 13-acre farm.
We grow fruits and veggies almost all year round using natural and sustainable
methods, and focus our distribution through local markets and our CSA.  We are
about to begin our fourth year of production.

Mission Statement

Our primary interest is connection, which we seek to cultivate through four areas
of focus: food, ecology, education, and community.  The Roots Farm works to
provide food that nourishes both body and spirit while caring for the land and the
Earth that sustains us.  We strive to bring people together in fellowship and
learning and to aid in creating a holistic life experience.  It is our sincere hope to
help each other discover how we fit in the interconnectedness of all things.
